Sometimes you’d like something round your neck but nothing too warm or bulky, perhaps to stop the rain dripping down the back of your neck or if it’s a hot day to keep the sun off. Of course, you can also wear it round your head or as a mask. So many uses for these lovely squares of handwoven cotton which will soften beautifully over time. The dyes used are azo- free so no nasty chemicals have been used.

These are made for us by ladies in a rural village 100 kms north of Kolkata who have been taught vocational skills and traditional techniques; the technique used here is a wax resist or batik. As part of a trust, Fair Trade practices are strictly adhered to enabling them to earn a good wage.

The care label (which can be snipped out) says hand wash but they can be machine washed, just not too hot! Hot iron.
